October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCA). Breast cancer affects everyone in some way. Having 2 daughters, a wife, a sister, a mother, and grandmother myself means it could affect my family one day in some way. So I am passionate about supporting the efforts to raise awareness and help funds modern science through our philanthropic efforts. Nobody deserves to ever go through that.
It doesn't matter how popular you are or how much money you have or your number of followers. It’s about everyone doing their part and everyone supporting these efforts...no matter what you do; NFL, firemen, teacher!
Traditionally, NFL football players wear pink items to support BCA Month and participate in their own communities and through their own personal charities to raise awareness and funding. Like them, I try to leverage the public platform I am given to contribute and drive support. Truly, any size contribution can help make a difference. I was blessed to attend the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s Annual Pink Tie Event 2 years ago. As I sat down I saw to my left Sir Knight Elton John and on my right was the owner of the NY Giants. I was a small fish in a gigantic pond but it just shows you how many people really are involved and care.
